Flos - Philippe Starck - Beretta Bedside Light Gun
Designed: 2005 (new finish 2007)
New Beretta Bedside Gun Lamp Origin: Italy Media pictures of Saddam Hussein's gold-plated gun, recovered when America and its allies attacked Iraq, inspired the line, which contains floor, desk, and bedside models. The guns are coated in gold leaf to allude to the military-industrial complex, while their black lampshades signify death. Small, smoked crosses line the inner portion of the shades, miniature graveyards that remind users that the next passing could be their own. To drive home our culpability, Starck chose different guns to represent different nations. The Beretta symbolizes the responsibility of western Europe; the Kalashnikov, the suffering caused by the former USSR; and the M16, the havoc created by the United States. Body is die cast aluminum with injection-molded polymer overprint and gold-plated finish 18K. Matt black plasticized paper diffuser, silk-screen gold printing inside.
Bulb: 1 x 75W halgen bulb
Size: H 42.6 cm, Shade H 18.8 cm, Shade Dia 16 cm, Base Dia 16 cm.
