Innermost Stupa Pendant Light
Stupa is an atmospheric cast resin pendant light designed by Freshwest for innermost, available in two sizes and two colourways – white and yellow.
The individual pieces that make up the lamp are joined and hand finished individually on a lathe, then polished. The sharply defined ridges around the design allow different amounts of light through and add to the visual impact of the piece.
The combination of mass production process with a high value hand finishing makes for a wonderful and interesting effect. The result is a lamp that permeates with an ambient glowing warmth whilst still providing a practical light level.
Designed by Freshwest, the form was inspired by temple architecture in Asia, particularly the stupas of Myanmar.
Originally launched in yellow the white was added to compliment the range and contrasts very well providing a 2nd completely different feel for this unique design.

The Designer: Marcus Beck and Simon Macro gained first class honours in fine art from Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Brighton respectively. After graduating, Marcus concentrated on the production of limited edition furniture, whilst Simon worked with renowned designer Thomas Heatherwick. Having known each other since childhood, and sharing the same design ideals, Marcus and Simon combined to establish Freshwest in 2005.
Located in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, the studio and workshop see development, prototyping and fabrication take place under a single roof. Freshwest embraces both experimental and functional design and is driven by their desire to realise ideas. Self initiated concept pieces are at the heart of the studio, however the commercial aspect of Freshwest has also seen them win awards and contracts in furniture, interiors and branding. The studios ethos is never to be restricted to a single design discipline and to experiment with different ideas and genres.
The Brand: Innermost’s rebellious approach to lighting and furniture comes from a shared anarchic pursuit of design freedom, a belief that you have to embrace the absurd in order to innovate. So innermost has innovation and a little absurdity at it’s core; working with designers from all corners of the globe to create beautifully unique products of the absolute highest quality, since 1999.
Back in central London in 1999, Steve Jones and Russell Cameron had a shared vision to create a company utilising their extended experience in design consultancy and furniture design. They had seen plenty of inspired ideas from raw, talented designers that were never being advanced beyond the conceptual. Realising that if they combined their design and manufacturing experience, these concepts could materialise into a unique and diverse range under a single brand. During these early discussions, the stand-out ideas were labelled those ‘close to their hearts’; ‘the inner thoughts; ‘the inner-most dreams’… And so, with a load of ideas, an in-depth manufacturing knowledge and the desire to turn stunning concepts into reality: innermost was born.
