Kartell Generic C Armchair 2pcs Philippe Starck

The Generic C Chair is a Philippe Starck designed armchair from Kartell. It's his interpretation of what the bare elements of what a chair "for all people" should contain. The back/ side profile echo the timeless elegance of the Chair No. 14 (Komsunstuhl Nr.14), a classic chair designed by Michael Thonet in 1859 which still graces the cafés, restaurants and dining rooms of the most sophisticated cities of Europe and the world after many decades, and is still recognisable to this day. As its name suggests Generic is a dining chair which lends itself to any application - be it a home, cafe, restaurant, public space or even in your garden. As part of a 'Generic' family it comes in a selection of colours, can stack up to 6 chairs high (great for storage) and represents fantastic value for an Italian made Philippe Starck design.

Generic is an ambitious project of deeply ethical connotations, in which new objectives are defined for contemporary design to fulfil and creativity is seen in the light of a public service. Thanks to a creative concept by Philippe Starck, Kartell identifies the “generics” of community seating. Hence the creation of Generic C, the chair designed for bars, restaurants and places of entertainment, available in six different matt and soft touch finishes: the seatback is high, the armrests generously proportioned and the design is functional."

  • Material : Polypropylene
  • H: 83.5cm; W: 52cm; D: 52cm
  • Seat Height : 46.5cm
  • Suitable for outdoor use
  • Stackable up to 6 chairs high

Kartell

Kartell is a renowned Italian design brand that has established itself as a global leader in contemporary furniture and home accessories. Founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli, the company has been at the forefront of innovative design, combining creativity, technology, and functionality to produce iconic products.

One of Kartell's distinguishing features is its pioneering use of plastic materials in furniture production. The brand revolutionized the industry by elevating plastic from being considered a cheap and disposable material to a sophisticated and versatile medium for design. Kartell's commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible with plastic has resulted in the creation of stunning and durable pieces that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

Kartell collaborates with internationally renowned designers and architects, such as Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola, and Ron Arad, to create unique and timeless designs. These partnerships have led to the development of iconic pieces like the Louis Ghost Chair, the Componibili storage system, and the Masters Chair, which have become symbols of contemporary design.

In addition to furniture, Kartell offers a wide range of home accessories, lighting fixtures, and lifestyle products. Their product portfolio encompasses a diverse array of items, from tables and chairs to lamps, vases, and kitchenware. Each product reflects Kartell's commitment to innovation, quality craftsmanship, and a distinctive aesthetic that combines simplicity, elegance, and functionality.

With its commitment to sustainable practices, Kartell also prioritizes environmental responsibility. The company employs eco-friendly production techniques and uses recyclable materials, ensuring that their products have a minimal impact on the planet.
