Square illuminated doorbell button with anodized aluminum faceplate.

Size: H 6.9 cm, W 6.9 cm, Depth 1.8 cm.

The SQUARE features a rubbery coloured resin button illuminated by LEDs. A machined aluminum faceplate with a beveled interior edge give this button a contemporary, industrial look.

Power Required: 8-16 Volts AC or 6-12 Volts DC.

Power Consumption: Less than 1 Watt.

Light Source: Illumination is provided by LED’s that produce light in colours of the specific button. Switch: Momentary, normally open.

Hardware: The button is made of colored translucent elastomeric resin with UV inhibitors. The face plate is satin finish anodized aluminum.

Note: Spore recommends using a mechanical door buzzer or doorbell.

When Ted Pierson considered objects in the designed environment that could use an overhaul, he realized the doorbell button was due for some attention. Pierson and former business partner, Tom Gordon, got to work. After receiving accolades for prototypes from top design magazines, Spore was created in 1996. Since its inception, Spore has been offering doorbell buttons and chimes for the modern environment, both residential and commercial.

Ted Pierson

After graduating from Western Washington University’s Industrial Design Program in 1992, Ted Pierson worked for various design firms in Washington. His experience with a wide variety of projects allowed him to consider design from many approaches, from the purely aesthetic to the technically precise. While his primary focus these days is on architectural elements, he continues to enjoy exploring the abilities of diverse materials to create solutions to everyday problems.
