The shepherdess looks completely adventurous in Kay Bojesen's interpretation with gilded shoes, a hat with gold details and a shepherd's staff - exactly as she is described in Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. Her heart-shaped mouth emphasizes her sweetness and innocence. In itself, she is beautiful and graceful, and in the company of the Chimney Sweep, they become as a couple a symbol of love and togetherness. In the fairy tale about the Shepherdess and the Chimney Sweeper, the Ancient Chinese will force the Shepherdess to marry the Tree Devil.
Kay Bojesen and HC Andersen had a lot in common. Each of them was based on the strong narrative, and each one was ahead of their time. They created a new way of communicating and telling, and with their imaginative universes and original creativity, they were quickly loved by young and old - and still are.
The shepherdess is turned in FSC-certified beech wood and is made in the high craftsmanship quality that characterizes the wooden figures from Kay Bojesen.
